How I would describe this tofu sticks? Super crispy, super healthy & super delicious! Perfect to eat with salad and your favorite dip. I prefer to serve them with salad, corn and guacamole or hummus.

These healthier, perfectly crispy and crunchy tofu sticks will blow your mind.

Instead of usual breadcrumbs this meatless chicken nuggets are tossed in quinoa. It's an easy way to make vegan chicken nuggets that are lower in fat and so delicious!

You could also use breadcrumbs instead of quinoa. If you make them with quinoa make sure you have a flour mill or a powerful food processor that is strong enough to make quinoa flour. I do always grind the quinoa in my flour mill and that works perfectly good but a food processor will work as well.

This recipe is for 1-2 people and makes 8 quinoa tofu sticks.

(One tofu block, 200 grams)


Tofu sticks

  • 1 block natural tofu, 200 g

  • 4 Tbsp quinoa or breadcrumbs

  • 4 Tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1,5 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • Chiliflakes to taste

  • 1,5 Tbsp olive oil

  • 40 g corn starch

  • 100 ml soy milk or milk of choice

  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar


Tofu sticks

  1. First of all, slice the tofu, wrap in paper or kitchen towel and press for half an hour to get rid of water.

  2. Preheat your oven to 220 degree Celsius.

  3. Make vegan buttermilk: mix milk an apple cider vinegar, stir and set aside.

  4. In the meantime prepare the breading. If using breadcrumbs skip the following step. Put the quinoa into your food processor (or flour mill) and blend until you have a flour similar texture.

  5. Put together quinoa flour or breadcrumbs, nutritional yeast, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder and chili flakes. Stir well.

  6. Add olive oil and mix until combined.

  7. Get yourself 3 small bowls, put corn starch in the first, milk in the second and the (quinoa) breading in the third bowl.

  8. Unwrap the tofu sticks and put them in the bowl with corn starch, then soak each stick in vegan buttermilk. I recommend repeating this step. When dipped into the bowl with milk, dip each stick in the (quinoa) breading.

  9. Line a baking tray with baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes then flip the sticks halfway through and bake for another 15 minutes

When the baked tofu sticks are crispy and ready put it out of the oven and serve with your favorite side dish. I served mine with salad and guacamole.
